If you’re fortunate enough to have a dedicated room at home to use as an office, one of the most important things to consider is your window dressing.

Which type of blinds are best for a home office?

Firstly, you need to consider where the light comes from.  If the window faces west or south, you will most likely want to control the sunlight and glare more so than a room that faces east or north.   If the room is quite cold, then a more insulated blind with a thermal lining might be more suitable. Think about privacy too, you might want to hide expensive office equipment from passers by if you are on the ground floor.

Venetian blinds

A practical choice is an aluminium, wood or faux wood venetian blind.  The rotating slats can be angled to control light and provide privacy.  You can also enjoy a filter of light and fresh air while blocking the views outside.

Day and Night blinds

These clever blinds work by having alternating strips of fabric that slide against each other, moving between one block of colour or a set of stripes.  As well as looking stylish, these blinds also allow you to control the light and privacy effectively.

Roman blinds

Alternatively, you could choose a soft and stylish Roman blind for your new home office. This is a more luxurious choice and can be made from a wide range of fabrics to tie in with the décor of the room itself.  Opting for a thermal lining will provide warmth against a cold window.

Roller blinds

The most cost-effective option which doesn’t take up too much space when the blind is pulled up.  These can be translucent, opaque or blackout and customised with a top valance to conceal the functional mechanism.
