Interlining
This is similar to a ‘blanket’ in terms of weight and is sewn in between the main fabric and the standard lining. It is used on lightweight fabrics, silks and taffetas, but also to add extra insulation and a luxurious feel to the finished curtains or blinds. Two different weights are available - ‘Bump’ is a more heavyweight and ‘domette’ is lightweight. Interlined curtains are always hand-finished and do cost a little more but the results are worth it.
Thermal Lining
Two types of thermal lining - dimout and soft-thermal. The dimout thermal lining is great for both insulation and keeping the light out. A relative newcomer in recent years has been the introduction of a soft-thermal lining. This looks and feels like a super-soft high quality standard lining and is almost as effective as having lined and interlined curtains, but less costly!
Dimout Lining
Our standard dimout lining is white but various other colours are also available if you want to make a feature of the lining. The insulatory qualities of these blackout linings help to save on energy bills and are a must for those who don’t like being woken up by the sunlight in summer! Soft dimout linings are also available for a more relaxed drape as the standard dimouts can be a little stiff.
Coloured Linings
A rainbow of colours! Usually polyester/cotton and can be dimout too, but great for making a feature of the lining or where curtains are folded back to reveal the lining. |
